EC Audit training by Martel

The EC audits its Horizon 2020 grant beneficiaries on a regular basis. Audits can happen anytime during a Horizon 2020 project and up to two years after the final payment.

The selection of organisations to be audited is essentially random. This means that organisations that participate in many projects will naturally be selected more often than others.

Of course, there are circumstances where an audit is ordered due to suspected misuse of funds, however, most EC audits are part of a standard, regular checking procedure. During an average Horizon 2020 (H2020) project, around 20% of the participants will have an EC audit. The better prepared you are to be audited, the smoother and easier this process will be.

With 20 years’ experience and having worked on more than 100 successful EU funded projects, Martel has been audited by the EC on several occasions.
