EC Audit training by Martel
The EC audits its Horizon 2020 grant beneficiaries on a regular basis. Audits can happen anytime during a Horizon 2020 project and up to two years after the final payment.
The selection of organisations to be audited is essentially random. This means that organisations that participate in many projects will naturally be selected more often than others.
Of course, there are circumstances where an audit is ordered due to suspected misuse of funds, however, most EC audits are part of a standard, regular checking procedure. During an average Horizon 2020 (H2020) project, around 20% of the participants will have an EC audit. The better prepared you are to be audited, the smoother and easier this process will be.
With 20 years’ experience and having worked on more than 100 successful EU funded projects, Martel has been audited by the EC on several occasions. And, just as we’re experts at preparing, submitting and winning project proposals, with a stellar track record at running successful H2020 projects, and offering R&D support, we’re pretty good at being audited as well! So why not benefit from our experience?
If you’ve been notified of an upcoming EC audit, or you want to be thoroughly prepared just in case, Martel can help. We offer a comprehensive, half-day training course (approximately 4 hours) on EC Audits, or we can cover it as part of our wider H2020 Funding and Project Management Training.
Martel’s EC Audits module covers
- The aim of EC Audits
- Obligations of beneficiaries (of EC funding)
- What the auditor will check
- Eligible / ineligible costs and how to demonstrate them
- What to provide prior to and during the auditor’s visit
- An in-depth look at the audit questionnaire
- Consequences of errors / fraud
- Managing the legal and financial risks
Because our course is fully customisable, we can also include any other particulars required by you and your organisation. Courses are also interactive: our master trainers are knowledgeable, approachable and discreet and will be happy to answer questions and discuss your issues on the day.
