Martel at IEEE 5G World Forum: Key 5G-Event for the Research Community and Industry

The three-day IEEE 5G World Forum gathers leaders and innovators from research, industry and academia to exchange ideas to drive 5G development and standard setting. As an active player in the 5G and the wider ICT domain and community, and a partner of the H2020 project 5G-DRIVE, Martel supported the set-up and communication of one of the most-attended workshops: The 2nd workshop on 5G-Trials – From 5G Experiments to Business Validation.

The 5G-Trials workshop featured a keynote speech by Dr. Michael Meyer, Research Manager at the Ericsson Eurolab, and by Prof. Panagiotis Demestichas, University of Piraeus, School of ICT, Greece. In addition, there were two panel discussions and nine paper presentations, with an overview of 5G trials, results and challenges for trialing activities, international cooperation, beyond 5G research, verticals and business opportunities.

In total around 50 participants attended the workshop. Positive feedback, collected using a feedback form provided by Martel, gave a clear indication of participants’ intention of further collaboration with the 5G-DRIVE project.

As the Communication and Dissemination Lead of 5G-DRIVE, Martel will build on the momentum of the project stakeholder engagement efforts and organize the next event in Tampere, Finland on December 17th, 2019. The event will focus on addressing an SME audience as well as their participation and role in 5G development in the V2X sector.
