Martel’s growth in the international innovation landscape

Martel has a consolidated innovation tradition, having served its customers and partners for more than 20 years in the field of innovation management, R&D funding and in particular international collaboration projects, spanning across major ICT fileds, such as Telecommunications, Software Engineering, Wireless Networking and Future Internet Technologies.

Traditionally Martel, namely Martel Consulting, has been offering project management services, including consulting on EC funding opportunities and mechanisms for a variety of international players, including, CISCO, Telefonica, BT, Telecom Italia, Technicolor, Thales, Orange, IBM, etc. In the last 5 years, with the arrival on the management board of Martel of Dr. Monique Calisti the business focus has evolved and expanded.

In about 3 years, Martel Media, the new line of business started in 2013, ensured a new flow of projects and activities for Martel. Martel Media providesmedia and communication services to several international EC funded projects and initiatives. Currently, Martel Media generates about 50% of the Martel Innovate Group income.

Towards the end of 2015, along the line of consolidating the Martel’s growth of Media business, Martin Potts, and Dr. Monique Calisti, at the guide of the company, decided for the next strategic move.

2016 and beyond: Martel’s growth

To stay competitive in the dynamic and crowded Innovation context in Europe, 2016 is the year in which Martel goes Lab grounding its offering and position thanks to a set of focused R&D activities geared at complementing the innovation services offering of Martel Innovate.

Dr. Federico Michele Facca is at the guide of the Martel Lab since January 2016. Since then he already played a major role, ensuring Martel’s participation into couple of ongoing H2020 projects in which new R&D services are being offered. And more will come soon between September 2016 and January 2017.

SmartSDK

Martel leads SmartSDK,  a R&D project that focuses on delivering a set of ready-to-use data models and cloud-based architectures to develop smart services using FIWARE technology.

Beginning of 2016 has been intense and challenging, but this has led to important results: several new projects will start between September 2016 and January 2017. As consequence, Martel team is growing and will grow even more in the next few months. In particular, Martel will lead couple of international projects establishing collaboration opportunities between Europe and Mexico and between Europe and China. Beyond that, since June 2016, Martel is coordinating the Coordination and Support Action providing support to the EC-driven CAPPSI (Collective Awareness Platforms for Sustainability and Social Innovation) initiative.
