Exploring Digital Government Transformation in the EU: understanding public sector innovation in a data-driven society

DigiGOV, funded by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, will focus on understanding how innovation in the public sector, enabled by ICTs, can transform governance systems, in terms of new approaches to use data for policy design & service delivery, to better address systemic problems. The partners will work on the systematisation of the state of the art on Digital Government Transformation, the design and execution of case studies on impact of digital transformation, the draft of a set of actionable research and policy recommendations, the design of a conceptual framework to analyse the impact of digital transformation on government. Specifically, the three areas of interest will be:

• The potential of open data reuse to increase public administration transparency, accountability and efficiency
• The role of disruptive technologies and social innovation to re-design public service delivery and governance mechanisms.
• The framework conditions & potential impacts of cross-border interoperability in selected economic sectors
